Peñas folkloricas: one of the traditions of the Argentine countryside

A peña is social event involving a variety of singers, poets, ballet and folk orchestras that present their work in confined spaces, before an audience seated at candlelit tables, which often consume wine and empanadas. Sometimes, members of the public are invited to participate spontaneously and improvised with a number of art.

Invited by the traditional music, “good vibe” and guitars, more and more people come for the night at folk clubs in the city of Buenos Aires.

Want to try one of the traditions of the Argentine countryside? Here are the peñas we recommend:

La peña del colorado: Güemes 3657 http://www.lapeniadelcolorado.com.ar
El empujon del diablo: Carranza 1969 http://www.elempujondeldiablo.com.ar/
Lo de Pueyrredon: Armenia 1378
